Lyrics
I knew Mathilda and her long black hair
Before it ended, we said we’d go somewhere
We drove out eastward in my beat up Jeep
Windows down, her hair snapping across the seat
Hundred miles, we smiled, taking photographs
She held her Nikon to make the journey last
Almond eyes, made me ache, how could I survive
The way she curled her lips, made me feel alive
The road soon ended, in our sandals we walked
Through the brambles, over rocks, we talked
When we reached the beach, the ocean kissed our toes
A lonely tree we laid beneath until the sun rose
We dreamed for hours and how we’d grow grey
But like the flower, that dream wilted away
I keep her image safely in my head
Her voice as well, I remember every thing she said
Those were the hours, spent with her out there
That I still hold close that keep me drifting on air
I loved Mathilda and her long black hair
I loved Mathilda and her long black hair
