dcLevelShifters

[back to band listing]

In the fall of 1994 I was itching to get involved in a new band — something more professional and more serious than I done before. I had gotten a lot better at the drums, and thought I was ready. I picked up the Phoenix and answered an ad for a band called “Love Bud”.

I never liked the name, but the music was great. It was a cross between The Beatles and Nirvana. Pete (bass) and Scott (guitar) were awesome singers, and could play the standard grunge stuff quite well. We ended up putting together 10-15 original songs, and even played out a few times before I decided to move to Atlanta.

I only latest 4 months in slow Hotlanta. Although I took some classes at the art college, worked at the Georgia Renaissance Festival, and made some great friends, I decided to move back to my home state of Rhode Island. Immediately, I re-hooked up with Pete and Scott to resume our music. With a new name — dcLevelShifters — and some new music, we began playing out again.

For the life of me, I can’t remember why we broke up. Pete, Scott, and I continued to work together for a few years. We even got together in 2002 for a reunion gig at AS220. I look back on my time with the dcLevelShifters with nothing but fondness.
